Literature Text

Pull me under, I want to drown.
She takes my wrist and holds me down.

Denied a smile or even a glance,
She'll chain me up without a chance.

Pull me out, I want to grow.
She tugs my tail, her life she'll bestow.

Torn between the surface, my face splitting in two.
The cold Sea tugging relentlessly, the warm Sky lifting with eyes so blue.

Sinking, drifting, dissipating under dark shrouds.
Flying, soaring, scattering among the clouds.

The witch below jabs at my heart.
The worst part being, she had no idea from the start.

The angel above tugs at my strings.
The worst part being, she's slowly untying my wings.

Tension, ascension, something's got to give.

The siren underneath holds me with a cold embrace.
The best part being, she's hypnotized me with powerful grace.

The cherub overhead sings to me with such a sweet sound.
The best part being, when she's finished, she'll lay me safely on the ground.

Prevention, comprehension, I just want to live.

Silence. Steady. You're almost there.
You've reached your destination, but love is
Unfair.
Just a poem about temptation, and holding onto something painful beyond good reasoning. Or something.
